Southampton head coach Russell Martin has played down speculation over a potential summer 2024 transfer window move, with the focus now on Feyenoord goalkeeper Justin Bijlow.
Ufabet Sports have report that the Saints have already made contact with the 26-year-old, who has played eight times for the Netherlands, but it is still early in the discussions and no agreement has been reach.
Martin’s intention is to create competition for Alex McCarthy, who started last week’s 1-0 defeat at Newcastle, with Gavin Bazanu currently out injured.
The Saints’ shortlist, in addition to Bijlow, also includes Brighton’s Jason Steele as another option.
“I said in the last press conference that we have all the players ready, we just split the teams into 11-v-11 teams in training on Wednesday and Thursday,” he said at the press conference before the match against Forest (August 24).
“We still have some players who come and go with injuries, and they are not young guys who have played 100 games as a professional.”
“It is natural that we might lose another player and add another one or two.”
“We look at the urgency of the work. Promotion Ufabet the importance, who is coming in, who is leaving. And we expect it to be quite busy until the market closes.”
Another player Southampton are keen on is left winger Jack Clarke from English Premier League side Sunderland .
