Aston Villa have opened talks to sign Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling, who is ready to move to the club in search of more playing time.

Sterling has not trained with Chelsea since the team’s opening game, a home defeat to Manchester City, with the player missing from the starting or substitute squads. 

Sterling’s future at Stamford Bridge has become bleaker after Chelsea re-signed Joao Felix, with a host of new signings set to battle for a place at Stamford Bridge.

However, Sterling’s move is a major obstacle to a move away from the club, with his £325,000-a-week wages and three years remaining on his Stamford Bridge contract.

There is a possibility that Villa could negotiate this deal into a loan deal if they can negotiate a suitable wage package with the former Liverpool and Man City man.
