Xavier Alonso hails former teammate Manuel Neuer as the best goalkeeper in football history.

Leverkusen boss Xavier Alonso has hailed former team-mate Manuel Neuer as the best goalkeeper in football history after the 38-year-old announced his retirement from international football, he told Ufabet on Thursday.

Alonso, who played for Bayern Munich between 2014 and 2017, was involved with Neuer’s both on and off the pitch, and the Bundesliga boss paid tribute to the 38-year-old after announcing his retirement from the German national team, where he made 124 appearances across 15 years.

Neuer is determine to help Bayern Munich reclaim the Bundesliga title from Alonso’s Leverkusen this season, which could be his final season as a professional.
